About SOS Support Outreach Services

Guidance. Support. Growth. New Beginnings.

SOS Support Outreach Services was established to provide individuals, families, leaders, and support groups with practical resources for navigating the challenges of everyday life.

Under the direction of Dr. John C. Barrett Jr., SOS combines years of study, counseling, teaching, writing, and ministry experience to provide materials focused on personal development, relationships, emotional well-being, leadership, and faith-based growth. Dr. Barrett’s work includes self-help books, counseling manuals, personal study guides, PowerPoint presentations, videos, assessments, and training resources.

Helping People Better Understand Themselves

A central theme of SOS is “being in touch with yourself”—helping people understand who they are, recognize areas that need attention, and develop practical skills for moving forward.

SOS resources address subjects such as self-image, self-esteem, self-worth, stress management, self-control, personal balance, marriage, children, divorce, single parenting, blended families, addiction and recovery, and personal life enhancement.

Rather than simply identifying problems, SOS seeks to provide practical tools that encourage recognition, recovery, accountability, responsibility, and restoration.

Resources for Individuals and Those Who Help Others

SOS materials can be used for personal study, group study, mentoring, coaching, counseling, leadership development, and support programs. Training materials are also available for teachers, facilitators, and small-group leaders who want to help others reach their goals.

Programs and resources include:

  • Personal Guidance, Support & Life Skills

  • Mentoring & Coaching
  • Counseling Resources
  • Behavioral Identification & Modification
  • Personal Evaluations & Assessments

  • Addiction Counseling & Recovery
  • Faith-Based Studies

About Dr. John C. Barrett Jr.

Dr. John C. Barrett Jr. serves as the coordinator, teacher, author, chaplain, counselor, and analyst behind SOS Support Outreach Services. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Theology, Master’s Degree in Counseling, Ph.D. in Psychology, and Doctorate in Life Enhancement.

His materials have been developed around a straightforward idea: people benefit from taking a personal “check-up”—understanding themselves, identifying the obstacles in their lives, and developing the skills necessary to experience restoration and move toward a healthier and more fulfilling future.

Our Purpose

At the heart of SOS Support Outreach Services is a desire to help people help themselves—and equip others to help people too.

Life brings bumps, potholes, setbacks, and unexpected challenges. SOS exists to provide encouragement, practical instruction, personal support, and resources that can help people overcome those obstacles and continue moving toward their goals.

Your past does not have to determine your future. A new beginning can start today.
